Ostrich drab feathers come from the body of the ostrich. Generally much smaller than ostrich plume feathers, ostrich drab feathers look like plumes to the untrained eye. Ostrich drabs are thinner than plumes, and not as high. Their quills are stiffer than plume quills, and the hairs don't hang as much. Ostrich drab feathers are best used for small-to-medium feather centerpieces, and also costumes, masks, art and craft projects, and floral arrangements.
